King Nothing As I live my life in prison – as the rapist wanders free, I cannot help but reflect on the man I used to be. The solitary vision skewed, a voice lost in my head… I wander toward the vacant dawn – another day to dread. In splinters of ambivalence, I trade my truth for guilt. With nothing left but self-curses, ‘embrace the darkness felt. As, dancing in the decadence of rehabilitation, Identity bleeds out in verses of self-degradation. The shade been drawn forever, I look to the jaded sky – Take another step forward, never caring where, or why. Emptiness but a feather in the wings of broken trust, ‘Await but death, the true reward of a cause believed just… Where shadow never minds playing tricks upon a weathered mind, But reality and truth are never truly intertwined; ‘Look to take flight, boldly display wings spread in misbelief, Fall headlong from a fabled youth to my empire of grief. As, upon me, I see their eyes, yet refuse to harbor shame. Not sure that I wouldn’t join them, if I weren’t harnessing blame. It’s strange the things you realize – what certainties you hold, (Those, without word, who would condemn – those lover’s eyes turned cold); As you wander on, implausible, in spaces shared, alone, Through the realms of abandonment, to take place on the throne… All life, all dream, impossible – bid yourself never awaken To the kingdom of hope, misspent, or its king, ever forsaken! Wow. That first line really zings the eyes then scours the heart... and 'tis brutally honest. |

You are a skilled craftsman, Michael, and you show those skills in poetry such as this. It isn't easy to get your point across when you are trying to rhyme, but you do it -- constantly -- I tip my hat to you, my friend. They will come back, come back again, |

Double wow. Excellent in word, story and rhyme. Painful experiences expressed so well. "But reality and truth are never truly intertwined; ‘Look to take flight, boldly display wings spread in misbelief, Fall headlong from a fabled youth to my empire of grief." Enjoyed the read. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

If your words weren't so beautfully wrought I couldn't bear the pain of reading them. Excellent as always. Hugs Lori |

Emptiness but a feather in the wings of broken trust, ‘Await but death, the true reward of a cause believed just… Where shadow never minds playing tricks upon a weathered mind, But reality and truth are never truly intertwined; Sheer poetic magic... read through tears. The magnificence of your rhyme is matched only by the heartbreak of your words... Awed by the powerful poem, I offer (((((HUGS))))) for the poet. *S* |
