One should not judge all too quick I would say
the actions of another
We've all got demons we try to suppress
part of what makes us brothers

There've been times I have been known to express
myself a bit succinctly
Let's just say I would compare it to this
at risk of what you'd think me

What to some might oft' appear as excess
when it comes down to drinking
much like conclusions are simply the point
where you got tired of thinking

Maybe, “In The Mix”, there is attitude rife with
people;
all having opinions rife with
foul sagacity,
where thinking is, at best, worthless.

You made being in the mix an eye-opening experience.
But we all have nowhere to go except for being "In The Mix".

Enjoyed this write #1

JL,
Thanks, all social implications aside, this write has become somewhat of a personal quest. My good friend Balladeer has advised me that to change meters in the middle of a line is inexcusable. Never one to walk away from a challenge, I've tried to find the exception to the rule by combining Iambic
and anapestic meters.

LOL...
Well you are way above my pay-grade.
If you can do all that and not get arrested you are a better person for the doing, for sure.

Just -
Remember to keep your quiver full
and your bow stringed.
Prepare, for anything.

Balladeer will just have to keep his meter running!  I liked this deeper bit of fare.

If I tried to figure meter, I'd put my foot in it for sure. *G*

So I'll just say... I enjoyed the resulting poem!!!

JL,
Lol, nope, not above anybody's pay grade, nor am I above doing anything for a laugh but, I think that's already been established. The other part of writing I enjoy is constantly challenging myself to do better, try something different, bend a few rules. The results aren't always good
but, if they were, where would the challenge be? Thanks, I'll get off my soap-box now.
Doc

suthern,
Thanks, lol, when I first came here I couldn't tell a trochee from a dactyl if somebody hit me over the head with one, but, I pretty much got tired of all these people talking over my head (not really) and decided "Gol durn it, I'm making it my lifes' mission to beat this stuff into my head if'n it kills me" Twelve years later, I'm still around, but,  boy does my head hurt sometimes, lol.
Doc

Lori,
Thanks as always, I'm sure any implied seriousness is only temporary, lol.
