Why Can’t Fall [and rambles] Why can’t fall be long and drawn like summer or winter…with unending months of brilliant color and splash Or spring? Why can’t spring be deep and swelling with colors vibrant against snow for months and months to feed our souls? Is it because we would forget to appreciate each nuance? We only just begin to glance at spring or fall and it’s gone. Why is it that summer, so steamy and hot, or dry and unforgiving, or winter so vast, gray and unrelenting, that it never seems to quit, but stays with us for an interminable time? Is it that we hasten too quickly toward summer for fun and then winter for selfish gifts that we forget to appreciate that in-between keepsake of fulfillment? Fulfillment…we race toward being fulfilled, and find ourselves knocking on empty. Empty hollows between breast and back only brings cavernous shadows, as if a heart never knew the twixt and between of pureness, virginity, soulful love. We forget that fulfillment is at the in-between times of now and then, where all of our memories are captured; we are too quick to acknowledge flight of life, thinking we need to be older to garner our riches; then thinking we are too young to be where we are now. If if there is an afterlife I think I would be Benjamin Button… growing young… But I am not in a play, nor a scene, so I literally stop, and thank those who write, that remind some of us that to be, is to remember while looking forward; to not just glance, but take in our surroundings, not just to love, but to live while doing so, be it with spouse, children, grands, friends, and even strangers… For loving is a gift, which can simply be contained in a look or a smile. Give one and realize you are giving life when you are mirroring yourself. © KRJ 10-29-11 66767 |

Great attitude, Sunshine. Why is it when we are enjoying something immensely it slips away from us so quickly? That goes for anything, even fall and spring, although I have to admit the two seasons do seem to be over almost as soon as they start. Like I said in the beginning, though, you have a wonderful attitude about life and smiling. ~*~ The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of a cannon, but its echo lasts a great deal longer.--Oliver Wendell Holmes ~*~ |

Ah, the eternal questions of life - and still, after all these years, I know nothing more than I did at birth in the way of answers ... but maybe, just maybe, if you ask me again, when God gets done with me, I'll have the answer to at least one: of course, Him getting done with me is probably a lot harder than even He expected, so don't expect an answer anytime soon... Good write, my friend . . . enjoyed the read. j. |

Let the seasons pass, as they will with no mercy be they blistering hot or cold, or a calming spring or fall, just let me live and give me a reason to love and I will be joyful when I read again, and again your pleasant words you have written above. Enjoyed Sunshine! JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Maranatha! Better words could not be arranged by Gibran. Funny thing is, is that I never look at winter as a long drawn out burden. All seasons are nice, although working outside in July can be awful. Enjoyed the poem. |

James, I'm so glad you enjoyed the rambling. You're welcome to add on any time! JL, you're waxing poetic...thank you for being a constant faithful... Ford, were I to live where you do, I would probably be more prone to enjoying winter as I once did. The last several here have been fairly dry and gray...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! And as for the compliment, I'm blushing! Thank you! |

"For loving is a gift..." To love unconditionally difficult but can be done when we get out the way. Your poem is a wonderful gift, Thank you Sunshine. Ms. E |

Fall and spring are seasons' weekends... brief interludes of good in all the "just get through this" times. *S* I love your rambles, Sunshine... when I give thanks for writers, your name's on the list. *S* |

quote: Amazing piece, K. This has touched me like few poems ever have. I can't help but feel impetuous and childish in my mannerisms after reading such. You truly have “wowed” me with this one. Michael |
