I passionately tended all of my time, I burned many holes through Amazing Grace. Annulled everything except for my crimes, My unbridled pleasure was my disgrace. Life was but a play; speak my lines and run, And never would I stop to seek relief, I prowled under the sweet/sour midnight sun, Until I found I was a broken leaf. Latched onto many a shining mirage, I left them all with a stain on my soul. Foolhardy days of pleasure I did charge, And I never once thought about its toll. My blind obsession for this other way, Has brought me here, unto myself, today. ©October 15, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~* The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind.--William Blake ~*~ |

Ah, Lori, I would hope your words are true, and thank you for them even if they're not. ~* The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind.--William Blake ~*~ |

Hi Jerry...those days before today and the memory of them are our guides and explanations in the school of life. |

"Foolhardy days of pleasure I did charge, And I never once thought about its toll. My blind obsession for this other way, Has brought me here, unto myself, today." Reflection is good, even if it pains the heart. Enjoyed. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Reflection absolutely is good, JL, if you are honest with yourself as you bring up the past. In my case I have been , at times, brutally honest with my misdemeanors and felonies, but they are mine and I deal with the the only way I know how, forging straight into the heart of it. Thanks for stopping by. ~* The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind.--William Blake ~*~ |

suthern, thank you. As long as I an breathing, baring a stroke or something which makes me unable to write, I will continue dissecting what went on before. Thank you again. I respect you and your writing. ~* The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind.--William Blake ~*~ |

This is a vivid outpouring of soul, JP. Yet it comes with the sense of realization at the end… and maybe peace within that realization. You inspire me, my friend. Michael |

Appreciate the nice words, Michael, and I hope you find something positive in my writing. I know it seems gloomy, and is, but I am one who have conquered my demons. And my friend, if I can do it, anybody can. ~* The saddest words of tongue or pen are the words It might have been.--John Greenleaf Whittier ~*~ |
