It is in the face of Agony That I run into the arms of Apathy An embrace so cold But at least it’s one that holds I want nothing now Give me not food, nor rest, nor Love Rather, let me watch from above (or below, as the case may be) As the world’s events unfold It used to be I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all Now, I’m not so sure Clothed in Numbness…I feel no pain Then there is Bitterness With whom I am also familiar The lover to whom I go When, for a change, I wish to feel It is so much easier to be bitter Why should I accept my pain with joy? I won’t. But rather, the darkest corners of my mind I’ll annoy |
