The Girl from Ipanema (Garota de Ipanema) Who would have known? A Brazilian songwriter making What soon after being sung, would be called “Bossa Nova”? All genres of jazz and blues collected it as being their first cousin until it became a love song crooned by “Blue-eyes” and received with gratitude by its bestowing to Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto (Helô Pinheiro) 1964 was its debut by Pinheiro but was soon made advertisement even by the likes of Frito-Lay, and casinos in Vegas almost every day. All enjoyed its sound – serene. Men’s senses were beside themselves for a glimpse of Pinheiro in their magazine; ears straining even young boys the age of 16. The sound of it was popular and broadcast daily over the air. Radio, television, well know pop bands, and some not so well known in high schools and so called schools of higher learning. Most young girls and women would sing along, swaying to the songs captivating soothing; learning the lyrics seemed so easy and pleasing and a joy for them to envision themselves – The Girl from Ipanema. ((( ))) Sorry BluesSerenade, after your reply in "Breathe" I couldn't help myself!! Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
