a poem i wrote for my daughter..

You cry for the first time
And that makes me smile
I'm glad that you are mine
Never been this happy for a while

U laughed today
And all I wanna say
Is you take my breath away
I'll be here to stay

People come and go
But know I love you so

You take a step for the first time
And that makes me smile
But you fell to the ground
I cried without a sound

And told you honey it's okay
You'll be walking fast one day

Now you run and hide
Babe you're my pride
You're my little baby
And soon you'll be a beautiful lady

Time flies by so fast
But I'll always look to the past

You have my eyes
But you got his smile
You have a beautiful heart
People say you're smart

I know you're wondering why
There's no daddy to hold you tight
Little girl please don't cry
Everything will be alright

Mommy's got your hand
I know one day you'll understand
Things didn't go well for dad and I
But I'll always be by your side
