The first time I saw her
the sun shined
as I caught a glimpse
of the sparkle in her eyes.
Every word I spoke touched her soul,
as if the words existed only for her.
We were two halves
that made a whole.

The sun faded like watching a ship from shore
as dusk approached
we both knew
this energy was no more.

It was dark and sad
as we turned our backs.
Tears swelling in our eyes,
inevitably the floodgates opened
and years of love
began flowing freely.
Sobbing hysterically,
I had to push you away,
and leave you to your own misery.
Not a day goes by
without your memory haunting me.
