Sept 11th Today I saw a lady cry, I saw death come from the sky, People trapped in burning buildings, Firemen rush inside to save them, Clouds of smoke and debris, Anguished cries of agony. Today I saw a lady cry, She had to watch her children die, Tears were falling down like rain, Life will never be the same. Today I saw a lady cry, and yet her torch she still held high, And as I gazed upon it, It was blinding like the sun, For it was the torch of justice, and justice will be done. Yesterday I saw a nation cry She heard her children say goodbye Trapped inside a burning flame The messages were all he same I love you! This is a repost from 10 years ago and an additional verse from today. [This message has been edited by pmcfadd (09-12-2011 01:37 AM).] |

Welcome to Passions. Your writing is welcome today, in memory of this very historical, however sorrowful day. Please, check your email for a Very Special Greeting. "The business of the poet...is to show the sorriness underlying the grandest things and the grandeur underlying the sorriest things." Thomas Hardy |

Good tribute. Great to start out with this for your first post. ~~ "Government is not reason; it is not eloquent. It is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." --George Washington ~~ |

I was thinking earlier, that today was a piercing reminder that an entire generation grew up in the cloud of poignant memory of insecurity and fear. Your post inspires my firm belief that such a dubious legacy will result in a stronger union. Welcome. Back. |

Welcome back! This is a very poignant write, as the pain is expressed through the identification with a mother's heart. Love and peace. Margherita |
