bethpoem

Lilting rose and a book of Poe
I split you into several pieces
so I will not overdose on you
and your love like Jim Morrison
and his naked, swaying Indians
twisting and coiling to the grooves of L.A. Woman
but you, you, oh you
you're my Pennsylvania woman, a half-moon tan
a Ferris wheel of fragrant seduction
and cherry stemmed heart, impishly grinning
for the gates of my inspiration to swing both ways
and I'll let you in, every hushed evening
to the labored breathing and a sulking book of poems
I've yet to make public
but first, if you could breathe a little bit of my talent
and make it seem so much greater
then I will devote my verses and rainy wonder
to you
and your gypsy-eyed magnetic pull
the way I can feel it even way the hell out here
midst Colorado pines and scattered leaf pages
of Jack Kerouac and smiles too cliched to wear
and hey sweet Pennsylvania woman
I know you and your heart of molding clay
as I search for meaning
in the useless romanticism I've been carrying
at least since I was thirteen
but maybe just maybe
if I plant these dreams and love seeds
in desaturated garden rows of your October hair
perhaps I will live again
and I will leave my door wide open
for you
only if you help me love again

Several promenade poets mentioned in your write, I just can’t make the connection to the Pennsylvania woman.

“smiles too cliched to wear
and hey sweet Pennsylvania woman
I know you and your heart of molding clay
as I search for meaning
in the useless romanticism I've been carrying
at least since I was thirteen”

Enjoyed the read.

Oh, the Pennsylvania woman isn't a poet or anything...just someone I know personally and love.
Thanks.

I love the hope shown in this ending... Love can definitely make us live again... good luck with your Beth!

Very beautiful poem, soul drifter.  Whilst I wish you every dream realised in Beth, it is important to be able to learn to love without being dependent on the help of another person to learn to love again.

Love this poem, it fits your avatar/nic perfectly.

It weaves into reality what many feel, and most will not admit..that once you love someone, distance and time, and even bad circumstaces cannot completly erase that warm feeling of longing, if just for a few moments, when they rise up in your mind.

enjoyed

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.
Longfellow
