Pumpkins Beside a field Of stalks Of long picked corn What is it about orange That seems so Autumn Tonight Despite a proven Lack of skill A Jack- o’- lantern Will be at the window With a single candle Burning inside Bring out the sweets White and dark chocolates Let three musketeers And all their friends Be fully armed We’ll ruin the appetites Of witches ghosts And what various forms Of death there are That come to our door And keep them away For another year . |

Very good. Might be the leaves, or "the light? The lay of the land?" Who knows... Your juxtaposition of the starkly colored chocolates reminds that there are seasonal prayers for delivery from Winter's harshness, too. Enjoyed reading! ![]() |
