          Starlit Memories

Amid the warmest tones
and long shadows of
a late summer sunset,
shake free of the chaos
   and dust
from the world of men.
Then walk in the purest poetry
of Nature’s silence and solitude
beneath a vast-eternal sky
of fine crescent moon, a billion
billion stars, drifting clouds,
  and weightless dreams
through the soft evening calm...
remembering love, and any
kindnesses shown or differences
  you may have made,
that which you have learned,
and all you shall never ‘know.’

Bruce, this ranks among your very best.  My favourite part starts with the first word and ends with the last, although the last 5 lines, and very especially the paradox of last line are even more 'favourite' than the rest.

Congratulation on the composition of this poem. It is "classic" in almost every sense of the word. Very much enjoyed it.

How I wish I had "access" to such a magical view of the countless stars more easily. In the town it is impossible.

Lucky you, dear Bruce, to tap into the well of endless beauty and to be so deeply inspired.

Splendid.

Love,
Margherita

Enjoyed reading you again Bruce.  I'm sure that the stars wink at dreams as they move through the darkness.

  you may have made,

As beautiful as the rest of the poem is, it's this soft reverie I like most. *S*
