When the verbal skills,
the expression,
drops from your river of words,
where normally they go rushing by
like rapids. And you,
like the great salmon-eating bears,
reach into the frigid water
for the precious words,
words that keep you going,
that keep you alive.

Instead of pulling treasured words
from the rushing stream,
you find yourself with a handful of
moss-covered rock,
which immediately turns to bloody bones,
and the bloody bones are aware
they are trespassing,
and so separate into
the most beautiful word every created.

And you,
of course develop a coup de foudre.

You reach for this word of all words,
a word of truth,
a word of unimaginable magnificence,
which will forever give you the magic to create.

As you reach for the word,
with all the love you have to give,
it metamorphosis into
a reflection of you
in the stream.

You spend the rest of your life
trying to become yourself,
in order to speak and write . . .
the word

Great write Jerry.

"Instead of pulling treasured words
from the rushing stream,
you find yourself with a handful of
moss-covered rock,"

That is just perfect.

(watch for that bolt of lightning).

Haha! I'm keeping "watch for that bolt of lightning," JL. Hopefully it will deliver vibrant and touching poetry. Thanks for being here.

"You spend the rest of your life
trying to become yourself,"

More difficult to understand, to come to terms with, is the idea that both sides are me.

both feast and famine, I sigh.

Felt the intensity of this.

Love the great imagery you created here, dear Jerry. And that's a "coup de foudre", yes!

Highly enjoyed the depth of perception here.

Love,
Margherita

That was kind of the idea I was going for, Karen, as he looked into the water and saw himself. Thanks for stopping by, whichever side it was . . .

You are kind, Margherita, and I thank you for it. The reach for ourselves is sometimes the hardest.
