Little ribbons, shoes and dresses,
Cars and trucks, and super - sized messes,
Games and books stacked ten feet high
Banged up knees, now don’t you cry!
There’s no escape from the Dr. Seuss-rhyme
It’s how I think now, most all the time.
The cadence of this, the drum of that,
The humming and singing, the rat-a-tat-tat,
The dishes are dirty, my pants are wet,
The dryer buzzed - they want a PET?
You had a turn; nuh-uh it’s mine!
Kids, “There’s never a time to be unkind!”
The days are busy, when will I rest?
But this life’s all right, I think the best!
Yes, I am more than happy to be
“On-call” all day, for I’m a mom of three.

Delightful, Shelerella!  I love the busy ambience of a life with three children, enhanced by the rhyme and rhythm.  I am sure that you are a wonderful mother, and that SteavenR, your Dad, was very, very proud of you.  I believe that he is looking down from Heaven, and glowing with happiness that you have found solace and friendship on our blue Pip pages.  As we keep saying, you are SO welcome.  Smiles.

You've described the chaos and the joy of motherhood very well, Shelerella.

as a Dad/Grandpa who took care of them a lot, have to agree...grown up they're still ' the kids ' and I have my grand kids over all the time so 'mom' can run away by herself and with grandma!

Wonderful write,

j.

Smiles! I can relate as a granny of three . But for me it's a "part-time job", a Mom can't have a recreation. I think the energy is really alimented by the joy that children bring into our lives, even if chaos is some kind of a "side-effect"!

Absolutely enjoyable and delightful poem, dear Shelerella.

Owl, you are so kind.  I believe too!

Blue Serenade... that last phrase you said is from a book, isn't it?  It's as if I had a flashback when reading it of my mom tucking us into bed with a book and saying "as long as you're living my baby you'll be"... anyway, help me out if you will.  It's a book, right?  and if so...what's the name of the book?

And everyone, thank you.  I sure do feel welcomed here.  My kids are now 14, 12, and 10, so our days are filled more with cell phones and sports, but when I found this poem it brought a smile of those ribbons and toys days... they fly all too quickly!

Oh man, you nailed this.  Dr. Suess indeed.  I sweated tears to get a rat-ta-tat even close to this.

I love the poem.  I love peeking into your past.  And I love that you are here with us.

I'm going to send this to my daughter...
she has four, and will enjoy it, I'm sure.

Thank you for sharing with us...it's obvious
to see you have Suess and your Dad to thank
for your ingenuity!

I think my mom could relate to this very much so, well if you were to add two more to that three.

Nice write, tough job indeed.
