He touched my skin with no way hands Carrying disclaimer cards In the back pocket of my jeans He said I was no good at wearing As I was signing waivers In the backseat of his 5 speed And my intentions scowled At the absence of some exit My pen ran dry As well as other places When he pointed out all the lines I refused to give my name Until his eyes focused Back on the roads fork And weary suggestions Had us stuck to drippy vinyl While there was little else to do I stole his chain smoke habit For just a second I let my hair fall waste length And wrapped the scrunchy quick Around my own uncovered thigh Lighting up When I saw his stick shift -Emily Shives 8/5/11 |
