. Lord of the world As far as you are You take the time To be perfectly still Watching leaves On the trees As the wind Passes by A fly on the sill Rubbing its legs Flights of birds Through the summer air The way Elysium’s clouds Journey in shades of green On the long front lawn Tonight by stars You couldn’t And would not Care to name You yourself will travel As stoic Odysseus again Between the Pillars of Hercules Seeking new lands To call your own And return When you can And if the gods allow To rest in the silence Of all you know Without the urge To purr . |

John, First, in my opinion, you got this right all the way to the bank. Secondly, it reminds me of McKuen, who for me is a very favored poet. Thirdly? You make me miss my kitties. Thank you for this...it was very fuzzy! "The business of the poet...is to show the sorriness underlying the grandest things and the grandeur underlying the sorriest things." Thomas Hardy |

I am willing slave to a couple of creatures who'd give you a subtle blink of eyes in appreciation of this. *S* Their typist loves it, too. |

I think you got this very right, John. It needs to go through the pass one more time. A |

For whatever my humble opinion is worth (or not) this 'write' is especially exceptional (and even far more so without the last line) "And return When you can And if the gods allow To rest in the silence Of all you know ..." |

An exquisite painting illustrating how well you know, understand, love and bond with your cat. My favourite line is the last one. Owl |
