Come poet Sing us a song Of courage Death waits us In our old age Help us still With a tune recall When we were young Our bones betray us The once we were Those who never left Their city walls However right and good The begging cause Now fill us in each evening’s Creaking hour with their terrors Sing of dragons Evil kings Met with God’s Noble oriflammes Let us pass Ourselves Remembering Come poet Sing our song . |

I like this - had to look up oriflammes, though. Have watched the In Search of Myths and Legends programme many times... Poets do not shoot fish in barrels, we woo them---and the barrels, too. |
