Chivalry If Valiance were, as Time has taught, So heart rending and romantic; Would it be her for whom I fought, While defending this lost antic? Might Dalliance stir my every thought, Leave my emotion unguarded? Would I concur if she but sought My very devotion discarded? If love were true… If promise kept, Could the end then be less tragic? Or would I see through tears wept To a more sinister magic? Might it be you memory swept, Though I had no way of knowing? Subjected to a charge, inept, But for the woe it left showing. Would I surge out, into the fray, Led by staunch desperation? Or, dead enroute, seek to allay The forthwith launch of vexation. Would I still doubt, by end of day, Gallantry for sake of mourning? Or sit and pout and waste away, Simply ignoring its warning? Looking back, numb to history, In my own miserly manner… Will I succumb to Misery, While she alone flies my banner? Or lightly hum, in victory, A song that lives but in my head? To then become what none else see, For they all know Chivalry is dead! tuffluv66, I know, I know, but if's are so darn inspirational sometimes... and this time I couldn't refuse. ![]() Lori, Some people are born before their time... Truly, I think I was born way after mine. Your words mean much to me... thank you. ice, it's always a pleasure to battle for "romance" and romantic poetry. Even moreso having friends at your side while doing it. May the passion never die. K, we ALL could use a happy ending once in awhile... that's for sure. ![]() ebonygirl, I'm glad you have found my writing to your liking. ![]() Mysteria, "sometimes you just have to look out for you!" There it is! The new a battle cry for the misunderstood. Indeed, if "looking out for you" entails following your heart when no one around you can fathom your reasoning, I'm there... and will heed your advice. Thank you. |

Looking out for you - This entails whatever it takes to make you good for yourself, and then what others expect of you seems so trivial. Yes, your heart and mind are the key to happiness in life and in love. Ask anyone that knows me in here, I definitely dance to my very own drummer, and could care less what anyone thinks! Try it, you'll like it! ((*^)) |

miscellanea, Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed. Dixie, ((HUGS)) I wouldn't have anyone to relate to my work if it were possible... Even so, it is a comfort that some do. Thank you. Mysteria, " definitely dance to my very own drummer, and could care less what anyone thinks! Try it, you'll like it! ((*^))" Indeed. ![]() Martie, In that simple statement lies a very profound truth. It has always been that way with me... and, even after all these years, I still haven't learned to listen. :P well, maybe I listen for dictatorial purposes, but I certainly rarely "heed" the words. Maybe it's time for change. Glad you enjoyed. Michael |

It is poems like this that made me fall in love with poetry! *S* I consider myself so very lucky to be reading this on a Sunday afternoon at home so I can speak the words and enjoy them doubly. Absolutely beautiful! |
