I wasn't ready for you though I called you to my door, I kept wondering when you'ld look into my eyes and see more than my dark skin, eyes, hair. I wasn't asking for you to embrace me with your arms as you did with many others who happily received your charms. I wasn't taking your heart to be captivated by me I understood you wanted only to live freely. When I was finally ready to love you, you, were, gone. I wish I had been ready, but I wish had you wanted me first. |

That's how it goes, ebonygirl, you wind up wanting something when it's too late to have it. Nice write. ~ Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get. ~ |

Looking back is tricky... and often leads one to think they "regret" something they did or did not do. Most people tend to do this with a decided outcome of how things would have turned out had they made that one different decision. There are no absolutes in life however... deciding you were ready too soon could have been the most tragic decision you ever made. Don't be too hard on yourself. Good poem, btw |

But if you weren't ready...it would have been different then - better I think to look back and wonder what could have been than to be regretful because of, back then... j. |

The beauty of "not ready" is this...he didn't wait therefore he wasn't the right one to begin with. Had he been the "one" he would have waited. |

can relate to your words, tricky situations always come and go, true people always stand the test of time. Fine writing. "The secret behind survival of mankind is kindness and love within our hearts" |

I tend to think that what is meant to be will be, Edna. What wasn't meant to be makes for a great poem though. Ida |
