The nights are long Time spent is ugly Fire in the belly Still burns as before Questioning Heaven And where it may lie It's not time to go I can't make the cut Spellbound by the moon A moonrock echo Maybe that's Heaven Armstrong never said It is two o'clock Window drapes are pulled Streetlight says hello But not the shadows Shadows, secrets kept I don't like shadows Still, I look at them They've stolen my soul That's why I sit here Each night I open Window drapes to see Shadows look at me Though I am soulless The moon is my friend It shines the brightest When I feel like this Trying, but failing To light the shadows To prove what they are Deceitful and false And I thank the moon For trying so hard But the shadows pull Me into their dark ~ Money can't buy happiness, but broke can't buy anything. ~ |

I've read this twice JP, and being the shadow delving, night loving person I am, I find myself adamantly wanting to defend your shadows. Okay, so they're deceitful... I'll give you that. But they are very real... and in the end you joined them, right? Must be that misery and company thing... gets me every time you know. Good poem, but close your eyes and listen to the silence sometimes... |

Oh, I hear the silence, Michael, and shadows don't frighten me, it is what is hiding in them that is cause for alarm. And yes, you are correct, I did join them. Actually shadows and I have a long and strange relationship. I stayed in the shadows for about four decades, thought I would never see the light. And after I finally saw the light it scared the shit outta me. Can't win, can we? ~ Money can't buy happiness, but broke can't buy anything. ~ |
