Five months Five months of a relationship that seems more like a task of revolving magnetic polarity pulled together, pushed apart, pulled together, pushed apart and they just can't seem to separate no matter how desperately she says she wants it to evaporate she comes back to him broken now, and in the dark she tries to mend again but it is hard to do when you're faced with the truth She told him to find another lover Both looked for new mates browsing the internet, face to face how they met, they saw each other at the same time, in the same place It was what she said she wanted He had to go on holiday, reset his destination out of Europe, come back again reset his time and space She told him to take another friend Said she wouldn't go with him So he found another girl, and ended up going alone she kept her silence for a month She regretted not going and was hurt, but... It was what she said she wanted She caught him with another woman nothing intimate, just saw him walking with another girl He looked at her, let her continue down the street he continued his lunch date, that was a confirmation of it was what she said she wanted He explained to her, it was a friend a friendly luncheon, getting advice he didn't know if she believed him, because it wasn't true he didn't feel guilty because... it was what she said she wanted She told him to "find work, find a job get your visa", but he couldn't without her, there's no real reason to stay in this country no friends, no work, nothing but his love for this city and its dirt a beautiful backdrop, with fond memories, now, mixed with hurt it was what she said she wanted He got an offer, for China now She told him to "go, do whatever you want go whenever you want, go wherever you want" it is what she said she wanted he turned it down, still looking still spinning the globe He is being pushed to leave he's still looking around it is what she said she wanted if he leaves, what she once feared would happen he leaves her alone, she told him to she's confronted with the truth of what she did to him and all this will come true, as her wishes become reality because... it is what she said she wanted. |

I couldn't read this without remembering times when I've said something, hoping I'll get an argument... but got acquiescence instead. What a powerful reminder that we should say what we mean and mean what we say! |

She didn't mean what she said she wanted. Not a good thing to do. Liked your poem, ebonygirl |

For some reason known only to her, she was lying to herself and to him. Still, at then end of the poem there is the big question of "if." If he does this, if he does that. We may hear more from this beleaguered pair. ~ Money can't buy happiness, but broke can't buy anything. ~ |
