BURNING ICE AND FROZEN FIRE 21 July 2011 They knew that evermores were nevermores for them, yet, they pined without respite. They couldn’t fly with the same wings, though thy ached to, because they would lose the very essence of themselves to which they both clinged, and at least, they had the dubious good sense to escape before it was too late (too late for what?). . . What they couldn’t do, however, was to stop constantly looking back over their shoulder at the glory of the garden they left behind and to which they had to return to meet in misty dreams . . . Owl |

Ok, Owl, I'll admit to you I struggle probably as much in reading free verse as you do with rhymed poetry. You have a talent though. You emit with just a few words pages worth of emotion. "(too late for what?). . ." "yet, they pined without respite" Your words sing off the page as well as anyone I have ever read... and the title, which I assume to be directly related to the work within, intrigues me. I'd love to know the inspiration for this piece, though it is not necessary for me to appreciate it. Michael |

Thank you, Michael for your exquisite and eloquent comments. Thank you, Marcia. Wow! Thank you, ebonygirl, for your kindness. However, they are both strong, and will manage fine . . . I think. Owl |
