I settle beneath her bed a cats dim shadow. Yawning, stretching letting myself unfurl to fill the room. To feel the textured walls To feel the cool window's sweat To feel for any presence that means to harm her. When finally satisfied I push against the very air. Until her little ears pop and she smiles knowing I am on guard. "little Nightmare?" she asks. "Go to sleep child" my voice red gravel Feigned irritation cheerfully ignored. "I love you." whispered past her tiny wet thumb. Oh I would burn the world for you... [This message has been edited by Shortysdadd (07-11-2011 10:17 PM).] |
