There are no secrets from the Almighty, but, then, that is just something us humans have to deal with, often by ignoring it. As long as the heart is in the right place...  A lovely poem and very wise. The thornbush is a well-chosen metaphor. |

Giggles, Jerry, at the reference to telling the priest (the one mentioned in your poem). Good advice for Catholics whose religious practices include Confession to a priest. Thanks for looking out for Thornbush and responding. Smiles. There are many, many kinds of secrets, and notwithstanding that, secrets told (but then they are no longer secrets) or untold can hurt innumerable people, whether the holders of the secret or not – and, on the other hand some secrets may not hurt anyone, but generally, the need for the secret hurts in itself. And, as you say, easy1, God knows all secrets – and as you implied, ignoring a truth hurts too, amongst other things. Of course, another option is to discuss the secret with God, and whether your moral obligation requires you to tell the secret or to keep it. Thanks for expressing your kind appreciation. A very interesting subject for a poem, Diana. Sometimes secrets become lies when the sayer of yes or no does so to protect people that they can't bear to hurt..any further then the known parts of their revealed actions have already done. Some things just must remain "secret" or that sharp point might reopen a wound that has healed. Almost everyone I have talked to on this subject has one, or several of these type secrets...it is odd though, that the most religious ones , are the ones that allow the secrets to fester into an non healing scar. I see the referance to "God" in other replies; It seems Jerry might have the answer for those who beat themselves up for being imperfect. Your poetry always makes me think, Owl; I enjoy reading it. Giggles, Alison about the sharp point pricking! I am honoured by your words. I think one of many answers is to do what we possibly can in order not to make the circumstances that require the secret in the first place, although, yes, sometimes it is somebody else's secret - and then I believe the best is to ask God's guidance as to what is best to do with that secret - it may not be our business on one hand, but on the other, it may be about e.g. child or animal abuse and then it IS our business, no matter how much we may be pulling on to ourselves to get involved. Only too often harm is caused because people were too selfish and self-centred and uncaring "to get involved." Owl |
