Sound Familiar? (is this a sonnet?) I can compare a Summer’s Day A wonderful, perfect, lifetime mate: Bad storms, winds, in this month of May Summer comes/goes in far too fast a rate Too often the bright Sun burns, when shines And sometimes, the golden hue dimm’d And at times the best of best declines, The leaves of life can change, untrimm’d But, summer in my heart, will never fade And/or, the great debt, that I owest Or all the love that my heart bade Death of that love, thou will never knowest So long as I breathe, and, heart does see You will forever be, a part of me. 14 lines… Sound thought, or discipline… Hints of Shakespeare… I can see an eight-line octave… A six line sestet… Includes painful feelings (don’t see the sexual love part, but who’s interested in that). Looks like one to me… But what do I know? Great write Abe!! JL ![]() |
