A bird outside my window Solid black except for a jagged red slash Across its breast Chirping away The sound so melodious I stopped what I was doing Gave it my full attention Silly me I began to hear more than just the tweeting Can the dead come back Touch our lives In the form of a songbird A beautiful sunset That seems to be just for you Or sometimes when all is silent The air is still You are deep in concentration An almost violent shift In the silence Perks up your ears and you look around Shake your head Smile ruefully' Go on about your business Sometimes that sudden shift of silence Will not leave your mind Can the dead come back I'm beginning to think so I think Nanette On occasion Has reached out This morning For instance With a lovely melody From a beautiful songbird

Yes, oh yes. I know that either the beautiful little bird passed on Nanette's message or was Nanette in another form. Beautiful sensitive poem, Jerry. I am sure she has spoken to you before you opened yourself up to hearing her. Now that you have, I am sure you will recognise her more often.

The redwing has voice It sings of impermenance Life forms changing shape
Your poem brings many thoughts to the surface, Jerry.. In it are the answers everyone asks, one time or another in their life,....Why are we here, and why are some of us not? Perhaps the Redwing knows?

They are around us in a dimension we can't usually see, but I too believe they manifest in different forms sometimes to get our loving attention. I always think of my beloved Mother when I see a butterfly coming close to me as if it was a close encounter of souls.
Most beautiful, this experience with the Nanette-little birdie presence, dear Jerry.
Love, Margherita

Ice, it has only been since I have developed a severe case of "getting old" that I'm beginning to wonder. That and those close to me have passed on, making me wonder even more. Maybe the Redwing knows after all.
Yes, Margherita , it was a pleasing experience with the bird and Nanette's presence. A VERY pleasing one.

I believe when we remember anyone we loved who has passed, they are with us. You are never really alone Jerry. Lori

Appreciate your input, Lori, always. I know you are right, it has just taken me longer to understand that fact that it has others.~ Those are my principles, and if you don't like them ... well, I have others. ~
