![]() ( Working and praying in my own personal garden on the equinox--March 20, 2011) On the earth, I genuflect As do all of natures pious, When beads of warm rain Wet skin on bare arms Still white from winter. . All the buds, the greening-pretty ones Praise the same, nodding on the altar Where I kneel - rise, and spin the wheel Of prayers today, that sends out Universal praise with special thanks To a higher sun--for warm returning. . I leave an offering by nurturing, work At cutting away, the dead by frozen While the tilted earth takes broader steps Allowing light to gain to almost won; Confirming my faith in Chrysanthemums, And the saffron that hides in viola buds. . Touching their leaves, I feel the pulse Of johnny-jump-up color; my fingertips Sense purple-saffron, yellow, and black- Dots that paint smiles on white faces; . To see what is believed By only touch, Is treasure found By only those, who sight Through rainbow dreamer eyes. . Again enraptured by the day, The time, the place I kneel, and pray my mantra: . "Come into me, My dear sweet earth, Penetrate my being- Mind , my body bent On the pivot-equinox; Say my heart The ancient poems Of your great bounty- Knowing these things Don't come free- I gladly pay with aches In tasks, Your benefits to reap." . Amen, Amen! After reading and praying with you here I feel in a meditative state, appreciative of every word you used to convey the closeness/oneness with all of life and in such special way with the plants that Mother Earth bestows you with. You succeeded in eliciting an exquisite tune with this enthralling poem. Love, Margherita |

Margherita The plants are truly a gift to me from nature. I love to experience their resurection each spring when the stone is rolled away from the cave of winter to let out the hope of spring.. As it emerges it spins the prayer wheel, which releases uncountable flowers (prayers) into the universe. Truly we are all blessed by that. Thank you for the reply Namste ford |

Ford...Appreciation flows in circles, tended by the loving hand, it warms in many ways...as does this poem. |

Sunshine What a wonderful reply...thank you -------------------------------------------- Dark I like the word "soothing" in a poem reply....thanks -------------------------------------------- Martie Yup, it is a circle game, appreciation is spherical, never lineal. Thanks for the reply |

I keep reading your poem, feeling the blossom of life and thinking, "as in heaven so on earth" when we are cognizant of renewal and vitality in the beauty bequeathed us here. I was warmed in the reading... it's lovely, joyful, and inherent as breathing. ~Karen |
