she curled her legs around the bottle of cheap wine leaned down wrapped her lips around the here and now yes, I know, she said to some I am polyamorous I take those words put them in a cardboard box and shake 'em saying you got that straight I'm free-wheeling and sexually un-uptight I take creation as it appears before me future is too distant tomorrow is today when it gets here yesterday is fraught with mistakes and forgetfulness TODAY is the key word I sometimes lay in a nearby pasture counting butterflies trying to make out their tiny faces somebody always comes by edging into my airspace telling me to go put some damn clothes on immoral woman she wouldn't've known I was nikked without those binoculars she stares out her window with I give her the eye the one they claim proves I'm a witch she hurries away I grab my shapeless cotton shift shapeless that is until I slip it on yeah, I'm hot some of us gotta be I climb the ladder to my attic love it up here cobwebs, dirt daubers, a few cranky ghosts I hear them groaning as I sit on the old bean chair nikked again I'm safe though nobody comes here they don't dare I like it up here the best it puts a dread inside my heart that feels good don't go bad-mouthing dread nothing wrong with dread keeps you out of trouble so I lean back in the bean chair lift my arms toward the ceiling and allow the ghosts to touch me in not such a gentle way isn't the first time I've absorbed the touching ahhhh . . . I think of the butterflies' faces and become as one with them ~ I think the freezer deserves a light as well. ~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (05-12-2011 08:39 PM).] |

I got to really liking this woman in the poem. I could almost describe her she seemed so real to me. Thanks, Faith. ~ I think the freezer deserves a light as well. ~ |

Amazing work, here, Jer. I wish I'd written it...so much of this is how I feel and what isn't? Is pretty much how I am perceived. Love it. Absolutely loved it. ![]() |

Appreciate it Karen. You won't believe it probably, but when I was about halfway through with the poem you popped into my thoughts. ~ Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill. ~ |
