We are parallel pawns on our twice weathered benches across the great lawn you in dark navy screaming with confidence your nose in your Times yet you are footloose your demeanor seems silly I can no more discipher you than you, me me and my poetry oftentimes cumbersome carefully checked, we tip toe the eye contact yet we are sharing the green that our toes touch shoes off and happy, it's the many of firsts as Spring rings a bell to this mayday of sun worship and yes we are sharing the robin returning bringing her offspring her fresh morning catch the mom in the pink beret feeding her newborn, her toddler rebelling, throwing a tantrum and the many assorted hippies and scholars deadbeats and troubadours mystical charlatans and baskets of wildflowers joining our shadows we barely meet eyes then you stand up and bait me with a glance up the sun, pretending to squint, I know that you look at me but I keep tight the shield on chancing tomorrow on the flipside of sunny clouds in the stratosphere with a wink of just happenstance I may waken your heart to me. I hope so, EmmaRose. Holding thumbs for you. Beautiful poem (as always). I think you may have one of the most important keys to world harmony and happiness inside this poem - sharing at least one or two things, as opposed to the impossible everything. Owl |
