to you who have always been so proud
and quick to judge or criticize my every move
i ask what exactly is my crime

do you despise me for nature was
kinder to me than you found her to be
do you envy me my successes
never acknowledging the hard work
that went into earning them

do you wish you had my problems
without knowing all the trouble i have seen
oh i pity you poor soul who in your
self-made misery can only look
upon me with unkind eyes

Those "unkind eyes" hurt more than one might suspect. By the impulse to belittle others, they just show their own great fragility.
