striking the leather of a boot hard worked again and again her tongue took rout to polish the long bones and invisible shine to reach the unforgiving ache inside stripped sunlight and dappled porches clouds on her back shaking the rope with tooth-full grin a tennis ball and a shoe will do a lap at ready play come kiss the slip of paw on arm come rest wake up now the suns at ready hunger is not meant to wait past four or any door be closed to the need A walk along Precious good dog sniffer joyful nose dipped touch to whatever comes from each days newly discovered dredge she found not lost the minutes never gone dear furry length of old dog cuddle now gone to comfort of death come take May opened the gate of not enough time and took Precious Good-Dog across the line away from the ache of missing that's mine -------- RIP December 5,1999- May 3,2011 [This message has been edited by Martie (05-04-2011 08:29 PM).] |

This beautiful dog allowed me to pet her, love her, know her, hold her...as she played and rambled with a cat, a bird, a peacock... She was unconditional love, as is her master and mistress.... and she was people, always, ever knowing more than we might ever know.... thank you, Martie, for inviting me to your home so many years ago, for allowing me to know Precious.... who even now licks faces we know, gambols with our pets, and finds horses to race with. She is at peace...and no longer suffers worldly pains. |

Sorry for you loss. Every word was precious. ~ I went to a restaurant that serves "breakfast at any time" / I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance. ~ |

Thank you for sharing Precious Good-Dog with us, Martie. It's hard to lose a good friend and companion like her. Hopefully, she has met my last dog, Tasha Jolene Marie Margo Pushki Puddin' Face. I believe that they will have a good time exploring together. xososo Alison |

Tears and hugs, Martie. I can feel how difficult you find it to breathe. Know that Precious Good-Dog is with Flicka and Daisy and Tigger and the last of Alison's dog who went to Heaven, and that everyone (God and all the animals and all the animally people) in Heaven were so happy to see Precious, and they wiped away her tears at missing you, by teaching her to be your Guardian Angel and to send you her love at all times every day and night. More hugs Owl |

As I was with spouse during a procedure today I thought - 'and a year has passed' then thought of you, and thought 'how many years have passed' and then thought of "my" collective animal friends, and I know, I know.... that in my lifetime, the animals that graced my life, Bobo [Ruffles], Snow [a kitten], Tippy (dog), Blackie, Sam [male cats], Baby, Salt, Pepper [one dog family] cat Cleo, and all of her kittens over time including Claude, and Pepper; Chico, a parakeet; several fish...; Samantha, Beauregard, Buffy, and Abby.... some overlapped, some left life too soon; some lived life well....and today? Poe & Twain. They probably have several years, a decade or more [and if I treat them very well, longer than that....and I think ahead in this decade of my life and wonder... what will my life be without them. I'm no spring chicken... I'm more the stewing hen. I can only hope that my life will be treated with the dignity of life that I plan to give 'my boys' - and it was only yesterday that I checked a dog's site and saw that my boys do NOT share the name of so many other dogs.... so I know that while they are intrinsically uncommon - - so are their names! And all of this, I needed both you AND Precious to know, that she might be welcomed by those who are there, and them that will follow. . . |

So sorry for your loss. I hope dear Precious did not suffer at all. From your beautiful poetry, we can tell how special she is to you. May you both find eachother again one day when you cross over the Rainbow Bridge , she will be there to greet you [This message has been edited by EmmaRose (05-08-2011 06:30 PM).] |

I'm so sorry, sweet Marite. There are some who just don't understand the mourning of such loss, and for them I mourn the loss of love that they never understood. A life is blessed when accompanied by a good dog. |
