His weathered face, told many tales. So tired & beaten down, his only companion a brown bag he held tightly in clenched hands. The trenchcoat he donned screamed beggar, a tragic figure of a man as he sat in the corner of a downtown office building. Invisible to passerbys, who neglected to meet his gaze, stepping around him like trash in the street. Another invisible soul, who missed the "american dream" |

. . . and like so many they gave up on the dream and fell into the trap of drugs and alcohol which blurred everything, including the dream. Never was to the point where I sat "in the corner of a downtown office building," but I have damn straight been a street person. Pulled myself up from it, but many just don't have the heart. Good human-study poetry, Dreamgal. ~ I went to a restaurant that serves "breakfast at any time" / I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance. ~ |

Fine writing...I would say some missed it and some had it and lost it...still the end result is the same...this economy sucks...James |

... and some were denied the chance to obtain the American dream because of illness. It is sad, Dreamgirl. Thank you for sharing. Alison |
