Winter blasted o'er the land for one day, two at most, and then it's like the devil's hands brought the fire down. One or two like you and me thought to change the climes but ordinary people can't change what has to be. I disagree, oh, yes, I do I'm more than I appear to be but restricted so by body mass I'm like a leaf at wind's behest. And how like leaves to be full green vibrant, healthy, on the trees until, until, that artful time when off they go into the world. They litter then the ground, are pushed around and trodden on, and just like me they come to be ... totally accepting! Helen / 1 May 2011 |

That is one way of looking at it, Helen. I'm accepting I suppose myself, but in my own, admittedly inefficient way I try to make a difference here and there. ~ Borrow money from pessimists -- they don't expect it back. ~ |

No one knows how to escape that final surrendering, but in the surrendering there is peace. Made me think of how I love to walk upon the layers of dry leaves when they sing to me their requiem that evolves into the promise of new beginnings. I always perceived it as a mutual offering of love. Excellent, dear Helen. Love and hugs. Margherita |

There are many things we as corporeal humans here don't understand yet. I like this poem, and of course have not yet raked (most of) last winter's leaves myself. ![]() |

Thanks everyone for the read and for your comments. Some things in life we just have to accept - or else we would go mad. ![]() Helen |
