        The unforgiving dawn

Though I’ve walked a thousand paths
   in dreams
on many moon-bright, star-swept nights
seeking some way into your heart,
I have found only inscrutable darkness
amid the karma-ruins of your past
until suddenly, all hope of new love
simply scatters once more
with each unforgiving dawn.
