![]() Heaven's Light We would walk in the early morning just as the sun was high enough to come through the trees. She often said that was when God opened his door and let Heaven's light shine on us. It was her favorite time of day, while the light was still soft and gentle. So many things we spoke of, so many things she taught me, or led me to understand; except the pain that was beginning to slow her down, the tumors that were slowly devouring her life. I loved her more in those final months walking slowly down the forest road in morning light, than I thought anyone could love anything but God. And I love her almost as much walking it by myself, when God opens his door, when the light is still soft and gentle, and sometimes . . . Sometimes . . . I would see her just ahead, laughing into the sun. © wesley james beard, jr. march 2011 Note: Not about me. [This message has been edited by jwesley (04-11-2011 07:29 PM).] |

Oh, I really loved this. It reminds me of a place that me and my father used to walk. I was lucky enough to have those memories with him, and you brought them all back. I still walk in the same path we used too sometimes, and I know he's with me. Thank you, Dreamgal |

Dear Jimmy, the picture is awesome and your words are a wonderful act of gratitude to God's beauty and the love of your life. Intense and poignant to say the least. Love, Margherita ![]() |

In the soft light, this person lives, with her great impression upon you. Nicely done. |

I go walking in the canyons quite often and those are the times I will remember most.... the way the sunlight dapples through the leaves does indeed remind me of heaven's light. This is endearing, jwesley. Thank you for sharing your heart! |

Heart-wrenchingly exquisite poem and picture as much so. So much beauty in one leaf multiplied by the millions of leaves, not to mention the road and the dappled sunlight and shadow (I can feel the welcome sunshine on my shoulders and the equally welcome shade) - and so much beauty in each word-image multiplied into the perfection of the whole poem.
