Poetic Revelation I once wanted you to like me I once wanted you to care I shared my deepest feelings But, still, you just weren’t there I once wrote in a different style I once tried many different ways But no matter how much I grew Silence was all you had to say I once read works of poetic masters I once put myself to every test I framed my heart with paper rhymes I continued to put forth my very best I woke as if from a writer’s dream I read every printed page Something was sorely lacking It’s as if I had lost my way I sat and thought about it Of all the words that we have shared Sometimes you just were clueless You don’t see how much I cared My poems were sounding empty The stark pages were way too white Each line is a part of who I am Perhaps it is me who you don’t like Actually, it no longer really matters Honestly, I no longer really care I thought I didn’t like how I wrote But hey! It’s you I can not bear I now write to fill my desires I now write to learn and stretch and grow Sometimes I rhyme, sometimes I don’t I write to share and not for show Alison Orignally posted under the name "aziza" |

Alison I thoroughly enjoyed this. What a superb reflection of the inner mirror. Self examination is a positive we all disregard by times. A purging and cleansing of the soul. I have to say I'm glad you share with all of us. These words are strong but yet oh so tender in their revelation. Wishing you the best in all your endeavours. Hi Alison, I think quite often one starts writing because of the feeling of love but one goes through it and then it becomes something we do, yes, to share but also for ourselves as you so rightly intimate. We do grow as people through writing because we can't actually write about something that we're not paying attention to. So enjoyed your introspective look. Hugs Helen |

Eric, I can't really express how deeply your comment has impacted me. I appreciate you reading and sharing your thoughts. I measure much of adult growth through my poems. Some make me want to hide and some I really like. Thank you, my friend. Alison - yann, Thank you. I can't even remember who this poem was meant to be directed to. Funny how that is sometimes. Alison - Helen, Thank you. As I said to Eric, poetry measures how we change throughout our lives. Alison - faithmairee, Thank you. You really made me smile. Alison |

quote: I think that this is a discovery we all make sooner or later and then when we learn to detach from wanting to please, then we are ready to evolve into a real free spirit, where poems express our deepest self. Great reflections, dear Alison. Thank you! Love and hugs. Margherita |

You go gal! Well done! If you can't be you for a man, he isn't worth it! And if he doesn't like you . . . well, he must be very strange, to say the least! Owl |

Dear Margherita, Your responses make my day. You exude love and kindness. Might sound trite, but it's true. Thank you for reading, dahlink. xoxoxo Alison - Diana, It was some time ago. Don't even really remember what motivated me to write this. Guess I purged him. xoxoxo Alison |
