. Debris Washed up On a present shore The soft mute glance Over a covered shoulder Staid demeanors Those silent gestures That no one important To their absent authors Is now left to see At dawn or dusk Do their images meet In light reflections Dwelling on moments Their breathing knew Horses in traces Schooners at harbor Houses with porches Under wooden eaves The flowers of summer First loves last hours As loss remembers The call of bells On Sunday afternoons . |
