twixt two looming hills a small town nestles I walk toward it on your bed we lay exhausted listening to the rain gaining force outside wind blowing hard against the house nature's concerto praising what has passed between us since yesterday never thought I'd still be here I'm not the sort to stick around give 'em what they need find another one down the road I don't know why I'm still here a week has gone by don't understand how I feel I only know everything about you takes me into another realm of existence I'm not used to this don't know if I like it just know I'd feel lost if I were to leave the texture of your skin the look in your eyes, that smile when we make love and the things we do is something akin to sacred vows those hazel eyes jet black hair luscious, giving, lustful lips I sup from them can never get enough where is that man who was just passing through a year ago never intending to stop longer than it took to "do it" in haste when I held you so tightly something like a tremor coursed through me I look in the mirror the man I was is gone but you tell me that man is still there that you go to him night after night you tell me I am the same man except I've stopped searching for I found what I was searching for I think she may be right the man I used to be is now only hers the baby cries in the next room the most beautiful sound in the world my son is quiet my woman pulls down the bedcovers so sweet, so sweet ~ Look hard behind you and you'll be able to maneuver around the pitfalls ahead of you. ~ |

Well I certainly like the man that you have become! Nothing like a good woman to settle down a man with wanderlust! It sounds like you both lucked out! Wishing you many, many years of happiness together! Loved the poem! EA |

Ah, this is fiction more or less, E.A. Or I suppose you could call it reflection of another time, another place. For I did stop my wandering and I did settle down with someone. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment on my poetry. ~ Look hard behind you and you'll be able to maneuver around the pitfalls ahead of you. ~ |

Thanks, dreamgal, and what they say about there being someone for everyone is true I believe. We just have to be lucky enough to find them. ~ Look hard behind you and you'll be able to maneuver around the pitfalls ahead of you. ~ |

Oh I do love this. Funny how life changes us to step back and take a good look at ourselves. I think it's paramount, that we like what we see. Such a touching poem JP, just beautiful, truly. |

Thank you Blues, I do appreciate your most kind words so much. I told E.A. that this was fiction, but it is party fiction, partly true. I took some literary license to something which happened forty some odd years ago. Thank you again. ~ Look hard behind you and you'll be able to maneuver around the pitfalls ahead of you. ~ |

Jerry, your love is palpable in this precious piece of poetry. You are still that same man because it is that the same heart that still loves within you. I know this poem was woven around memories. Lori |

Most enjoyable read, dear Jerry. And I love the touch of sacredness you gave it. Truly beautiful. Love, Margherita |

Yes, Lori, the majority of my writing these days are memories, or, sometimes, as you said, "woven around memories." Thank you for understanding. Margherita, when someone loves as the poem suggested it is sacred, no doubt about it. Thank you so much for being here. ~ Look hard behind you and you'll be able to maneuver around the pitfalls ahead of you. ~ |
