No small coward soul is mine Fearful of shadows own, Fed by solitary thought Cultured in wishes and dreams The light of me shall not dim As if a transitory ghost, Troubled by its stormy fate No, I shall have none of that Look for some other trembler, Troubled by events inconsolable Discontent with the journey As well as the destination For all is predicated on chance, Which clouds foreknowledge No, it is in these very things I will partake a particular comfort And relish the ignorance For in understanding Leads to hopelessness And hopelessness breeds Quiet, or otherwise, Lives led by desperation |
