it’s getting late and he’s still out there he’s not going to sleep beside me tonight, instead, he’s out in the woods where he isn’t supposed to be. he’s a rule-breaker. he won’t come to me when I call his name maybe he doesn’t hear me and that thought is too frightening to consider. i am tired and, yet, i won’t sleep until I try again not when he’s out there, probably having fun, doing things like stalking birds and hiding in the grass. he’s having his big adventure while I cry and worry. i left the garage door open wide, hoping he will come in for supper or a cuddle, but I don’t think his mission is complete being the king of his jungle is hard work and if he hears me crying, he’s not listening. - Alison, underling of Kaz |

Oh, Alison, my heart literally goes out to you. I've been in a similar situation and I understand how you're feeling. I believe that he'll come home dragging his contrite tail behind him. In the meantime, go pick up a man and stick him in your bed until Kaz returns. Hm, on second thought, perhaps you should just hug a pillow. It's less complicated. Giving you a warm, compassionate hug ~ and sending an angel posse after your beloved errant canine! Linda |

(big comfort hugs) Oh Alison, I understand that feeling of worry and consternation ever so much when, because we surely can't read the minds of our pets, we fear they are tempted to wander and, even when they are fairly domesticated and/or love their owners ever soooooooo much, get all excited about exploring the world just beyond the front porch and it could be too much for them sometimes! Here's hoping Kaz knows how to find his way home each time wherever he roams, my friend! (huggies) Sincerely, Noah Eaton "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" |

Alison - sure does sound like my best friend who at times is the most stubborn critter I've ever seen. Dakota is his name, the wolf dog... BC |

I'll respond personally to each post later. Thank you all who have written to this little poem. I don't think Kaz has gotten much sleep last night and I have had none. He's in the woods and has let me see him, but won't come close or let me get close. Should I just leave him today - he has stopped responding to my calls - and try again tonight? I am kind of at a loss - guess, I'll go to work and try again later. He's hurting my heart. A |

My dear Alison, I feel your hurt too, hopefully he has just the intent of breathing a little bit of freedom and he will come back on his own. They love to hide in the grass for hours if they have smelled something tasty ... Dear Kaz go home!! Heartwrenching poem ... Love, Margherita |

Oh brother I would freak! They eventually come in when hungry they say, but I would try to grab him before night falls again. |

I haven't seen him tonight. I might have heard him earlier, but I am not sure. I just wander around calling him. Some might think I am neurotic, but I really love my animals - and while I know that cats can do this stuff (and often do), it does not make it easier. Thank you everyone - I just want my cat. A |

Okay, about a half hour after writing the message above, Kaz decided to come home. It took a monster thunder storm to bring him in. He's pretty proud of himself at the moment - and aloof like the King should be. I want to pound his butt even though this is normal cat behavior. I wasn't sure how he would do out in the big rural world as he was a Seattle cat and lived in an apartment prior to coming to be with me. Obviously, he's resiliant, stubborn and smart. And he's on my list and is under house arrest. Thank you all for thinking of him - and me. xoxoxo Alison |

They can worry you to pieces, can't they? *S* I'm glad the wanderer returned home... and his lack of contrition is pure cat! LOL |

You are so right, Ruth. I think he's happy to be home and is really not wanting to return to that scarey world. We don't talk about it because, being male and a cat, he'd have to show me how brave he is. Sheese. Isn't that just like so many men I know. xoxoxo Alison |

wow, seems like our pets have a lot in common. BOTH of my dogs nosed their way under that gate... The ones we love give us so much trouble don't they? Anyway, another fantastic poem... I'm off to read more! Rileigh |

I know how you feel, Alison. I have 2 dogs and a cat. My cat never even goes outside, much less wander off. And, my dogs are only allowed outside in a fenced backyard. They did get out one time, and I went crazy trying to find my dogs. |

Ida, As soon as he got home, he was on notice that he is under house arrest. So far so good - he seems to like the gruel just fine. Thank you. xoxoxo A - Sue, Yep, he's pretty content to be home now. I think he was pretty scared in the big, thundery world. xoxoox Alisom |
