![]() I almost never write to an image. I write first and then go searching for a synergistic image, except in this one sole instance. I was searching for an image to a poem (not yet posted) and that search led to an incredible coincidence. I found the perfect image in the form of the photo of a painting posted on the artist's Brooklyn web site. I grabbed the image and then returned to email the artist of what I was doing. It was then that noticed that she had a Bio page. The info on that page stunned me. I contacted her and confirmed that her aunt was my mother's best friend while both were young women in my home town in Illinois. The image for this poem, which I wrote for her, is Nancy's painting. My forthcoming poem "Ambivalence" is the painting that I originally found on her site. By the way, this is Nancy's self-portrait.
