Be not humble toward death Go not meek and trembling Like some coward thief Afraid of his own demons Face him squarely in the eye Fight fate in its every guise So that all will remember And your name will resound in song Scream against death until the bitter end Summon all the rage of humanity inside Hold on tight to its tethered reins Riding it wherever it goes So that maybe even death might die |

"Do not go gently into that good night" ~ to paraphase a famous quote. I have faced death several times in my life. I am running out of the proverbial nine lives. Each experience was unique and different from the others. The one I preferred, so to speak lol, was the gentle one where I accepted the inevitable and was floating up into a tunnel of Light ~ But then I was sent back! I guess I have more work to do down here! I also have fought a battle royale as you have so aptly and vividly written of in this powerful piece of writing. Love it! Now that's what I'm talking about...this is what my end will be like. A bloody battle til the bitter end. I plan to go down swinging! |

I hope it's a long time before I need these words to reinforce fading strength and remind me I have backbone... but I can't imagine any filling that need better. This is fantastic... and going into my library. *S* |

Don't think I'll go screaming, 'tis not my style even though I once said I'd yell my head off! But maybe, you'll hear me begging for another day. Still packing and making last minute travel arrangements, moving to Oregon next weekend after Sara's Coast Guard graduation. Moving is such a major physical chore this time! |

I liked the intensity of this. Could picture the raised sword, hands grasping a lifeline, the beauty found in living life to the fullest, plays in the sidebar like a movie in fast forward. A reminder to keep one foot on the ground, wedged in the portal between. |

The definition of death I prefer is "transition". And rather than a battle cry I think I might want to sweetly surrender, but I do understand that life's gifts are not easily left behind. Powerful write, dear J.! Love, Margherita |

You borrow from Donne... good job. "And your name will resound in song" But this is yours. One can only hope that any name will be revered in song, at one time or another. I've come home again. And it feels good. |
