Spelunk! Spelunk! Spelunk! Falling drops of lime, captured moments of time. The twilight zone beckons you... enter within the crystal chasm below, where spelunkers dangle from friendly threads and crawl on their knees 'round majestic columns massive as giant Sequoia trees, and shiny 'soda straws' are swallowed by Mother Earth's cavernous mouth. Chamber music curls capriciously through cool crystal galleries, creating a nature opus. Suddenly, sounds of a saxaphone echo point to counterpoint, blending harmonically, sensuously, like dancing lovers entwined beneath surface sinkholes camouflaging hidden treasures; young vertical shafts cutting through moist passages of calcite speleothems, as whirlwind melodies rise from stalagmite reeds, over notes dropping serendipitously from crystalline stalctites. Spelunk! spelunk! spelunk! Bridging nature sounds with sensual sax sounds, a jazz fusion with licks of lime in chamber music sublime, beckoning you to enter hidden chambers divine. **** Note:The opening of a cave is affectionately called the twilight zone by spelunkers, whose first love is exploring the secrets of caves. (Not a reference to Rod Serling's old Twilight Zone show.) [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (06-26-2009 08:52 PM).] |

Subtle and sensuous and so incredibly well written with much feeling. As if I can hear the sax softly in the background. A lovely poem to dream by and read again and again. Heart2Heart |

WoW! This was absolutely jam packed full of wonderful imagery...Very impressive right and one to hold the readers attention. It is difficult to chose a favorite..but the following is the one I chose. "massive as giant Sequoia trees, and shiny 'soda straws' are" peaceseaker |

This is just beautiful, Kacy, something about it reminds me of the poem Kubla Khan by Coleridge. One of my favorites. Ida |

A splendid spelunking scribing! I've done my fair share of spelunking ~ from small caves to the grand Luray Caverns. I could never remember which were stalactites and which were stalagmites. So, I devised a little memory trick and now I always know. ~ StalacTites come from the Top of the cave! Happy Spelunking! Linda |

Ida, thanks! To be mentioned alongside such a wonderfully fun creative writer such as Coleridge..is humbling! Linda, you are a cavie! LOL, yes, those stalactites 'hang on tight' so they won't fall. Caves are kewl and cool |

Yo dear Kacy, This brings back memories of the caves in the hills and mountains of Appalachia. They were dark, dangerous, and batty. It's a neat poem. Love Bobby |

I also loved: "Chamber music curls capriciously through cool crystal galleries, creating a nature opus." I'm a sucker for anything that marries music and nature, and what you have done here is sublime. |
