only winter time compels our lives until Winter becomes the final season; and tomorrows are tightly measured in the face of a thousand-mile December wind. every forlorn traveler remembers some ‘home’ to which this is no return; and these pathless mountain forests, that know no calendar, become the last respite for each unfinished life. --- b. e. adams (2009 passing) |

Hello Bruce, so good to read your poetry again. I love the reference to winter as the final season of life, and I know you must have had in mind the wondrous experience of having lived the spring, summer, and fall, as prelude to the end of all endings. Your poetry lifts me each time I have the opportunity to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing these splendid lines. |

I was born in December, Bruce, and I see it not so much as an end, but as a force pushing against a door unto a new beginning. I think your poetry is much more about continuity, than it is about endings, even though endings have their rightful place in the scheme of life. |

Bruce, I have to agree with Kate. There is no single line to select as perfection - you write more than poetry. You write feelings and weave them with the nature we love. Happy New Year - I hope it is good for you. Alison |
