There in the nighttime sky
I behold a little lonely star
Where my thoughts of love reside
Held aloft and brighter by far
Ever the steady guiding light
For a traveler through the storm
How can something in the cold of night
Be so distant, yet ever so warm
No jewels upon Earth can measure
Nor even be held in any compare
For God so values this treasure
In Heaven she will forever shine there

Such a beautiful little star in the envious sky
I shield her radiance from my undeserving eyes

You could be undeserving ... or you could be looking at the wrong star.

Nice write.

I've read this a few times.  Your softer side shines bright.  Happy New Year!
