Bones can’t think of anything
he likes about Christmas,
no,
not a thing.

When he was a working boy,
business was always bad
around Christmas.

All his clients
seemed too busy
acting like men
to bother with Bones.

As Bones got older,
his feelings of
childhood depravation
pretty much controlled him
around Christmas.

He’d get drunk,
and stand out in the alley,
hurling curses at everything
and everyone.

Christmas was always
a crappy time of year
for Bones.

Bobby

Bobby - tell Bones that Christmas is a great time of the year. You must get him into the holiday, and cheer him up some. One of my special holidays, as I love to see the brightness in my cared for ones when they open a gift from me. I'd rather give than receive....

Hello Bobby, enjoyed your poem, you are not alone thinking this way, I think it is the contrast that shocks between happiness and poverty, I don't think Christmas is responsible for that, it is a feast that has lost a bit of his truth, but hey celebrate it with family, I am angry too but don't blame Christmas.

best wishes

This truly aches ~ and on so many levels. It is all so unfortunate. Bones needs love, understanding and compassion and then he will be more apt to radiate them instead of resentment and animosity.

Sending love Bone's way and some Christmas cheer,

Linda

Thanks dear Bill, Yann, and Linda,

This year I spent Christmas at my youngest son and his lovely wife’s house.  It was a great time.

On Christmas night some poor soul was heard out on the street screaming curses in a blue streak.  I explained to them that that is what Christmas is to some folks.

It’s sad, and it made me think of Bones.

Love Bobby

I couldn't agree more. Christmas is was just another day to me, with a couple tears mixed in. Nice write.

Thanks dear SlowlyFallAway,

Yes, Christmas is the time to remember all those years when Sandy Claws seems to have missed your/our chimney.

Hi Bobby, Christmas is not the time of the year to be sad so give Bones a few stiff

whiskeys and he might surprise you. It's worth a try. Happy New Year Bobby.

Bobby,

I am a bit surprised.  I would think that Bone's faith would have carried him through.  A beautiful midnight mass would have perhaps helped ease his pain.

I like this because it's honest and I think. You always make me think.

Love and Happy New Years to you and Bones.

Thanks Lindsay,

For the good advice.  The whiskey seemed to do the trick.  Bones had a great Christmas.

Thanks Balladeer,

What you say seem to be true in many cases.  I hope that you had a great Christmas, and New Years Day.

Thanks dear Alison,

Normally Bones would be all right on Christmas.  However this year he got into the booze early in the day, and that seemed to have a bad effect.  He never made it to Mass this Christmas, he'll do better with New Year's.
