Winter Lullaby

Ice crystals are gently cascading down
-- blanketing Mother Earth
in a heavenly mantle of white.
Soughing arctic winds whistle across
the dormant landscape as
Christmas Eve draws nigh.

Michael, where have you been, I haven't seen you for ages and I miss your talent.

You have certainly captured the essence of Christmas with this one my friend.
Take care.

Artic Wind - I love Christmas also, and all that it brings. Christmas Eve is also special, especially when there is a new snow. Great write, very special...

It's been a long time since I've seen winter mourn in this kind of icy beauty.  You make me remember such indigo nights when I was a child.

You know, we had snowdrifts in our yard, and there was a large tank...probably for natural gas.  We children would turn on the porch light, watch the flakes come down silently, and we'd bundle up to play on the tank.  The whole world became a fairyland in the dead of winter, the only blush of warmth came from our cheeks.  The quiet of the snow still lingers like something mystical in my mind...years and years later.

Klassy Lassy, thank you for that kind reply. Yes, I love watching the snow fall down from the heavenly sky, at night mostly. It's so beautiful.

I'm happy that this brought fond memories of child hood to you.
Happy Holidays
