Night Sounds

Soft as down, more delicate than a feather’s
unbridled fall to a desert floor...the tear of
one's heart, reaching skyward, pleading from
moist lips, awaiting the silence that falls,
soft as down..a night's whisper...soft, soft
as down.

The glow...moving slowly toward outreaching
branches,   suddenly gone....again repeating
as the firefly seeks the distant repetitive glow
of yet another....seeking the dawn’s whisper,
touching the wisp of air...soft as down.

Swirls, teasing the earth,  kissing the still
cool air,  calling so softly, soft as down.

It's been a while since I've felt a soft night where the stillness whispers, and fireflies are a phenomenon I've not ever seen! This poem makes me feel as if one's thoughts might echo and the night was one for dreaming. Lovely!
