I Hope You Know When I look back and reminisce, I see a well-worn trail, A path that leads my thoughts to you each mem’ry without fail; A catalog of recollections drift into my view, As thoughts replay familiar scenes that trace me back to you. I’m humbled by the visions there, for what I often find, Are selfless actions made by you, each one of them in kind; How often did you place my welfare far beyond your own? How often have I thanked you for the thoughtfulness you’ve shown? I wonder if I’ve told you just how grateful that I feel, For all the years of sacrifice my memories reveal; For everything that you have done to help me get ahead, I hope that I can find the words that may be left unsaid. I wonder if I’ve thanked you for the role that you have played, For all the extra miles you went, and all the efforts made; The cost was high – I know this well – it sometimes took it’s toll, And yet you managed through it all, and never lost your goal. I wonder if you know the place you hold within my heart, For all the love, support and care you’ve shown that never part; For all the things that you have done to help to see me through, I hope you know how thankful that I am for having you. For all the opportunities – for all your love and care, For all the heartfelt sacrifices and the life we share; A thank you seems inadequate, for words cannot describe, The love and “true” appreciation that I feel inside. Dear Kit, that is a real masterpiece, the rhythm and rhyme is spot on, you wrote it so well. Thanks for sharing, love. Lindsay |
