             The Internet

There are things you know from long ago
And sometimes things you might forget,
But please worry not, just retrieve the lot,
Log on to the Internet.

Some years have past when I thought at last
A new computer I must buy,
I say with sincerity it was all new to me
But at least I’d like to try.

At first I must admit that the cap didn’t fit,
That computer literate I’d become,
But add a little nous to that wondrous mouse
And to its magic I would succumb.

Then to myself avail the e-mail trail,
Folks told me to join the net,
Then it wasn’t long till I joined the throng
And I must say without regret..

If a trip is planned to some distant land
Or the weather forecast you should seek,
You can rest assured you’ll soon be cured
And at many other problems you may peek,

So I say to everyone don’t miss the fun
That you can have on the Internet,
For in seconds few you’ll all learn anew
Things unknown to you as yet.

I remember when I first read just a few lines in a newspaper in the early eighties about some incredible worldwide net that would change the world. I wondered ...

And well it did change our existence, no doubt!! It is amazing, quite simply amazing. If only there wouldn't be bad use of it too ...

You say it very well, dear Lindsay.

Love,
Margherita

To Bill, Kaile and Margherita, thank you so much for your comments, they are always appreciated. Yes the Internet is a marvellous invention alright, life would just not be the same without it. It certainly keeps all boredom away, and last but not least, it puts me in contact with all my great friends on PIP. Have a great day folks and take care.

You are so right!  The world opens in windows, yes?  I know mine did, especially in the world of poetry.  How I miss connecting when my computer goes down!  It can certainly be addictive. ~K

Thanks Karen for your kind comment. I'd hate to think what life would be like without commputers and the internet, they

certainly play a major part in one's life especcially for the elderly. Love to you my friend and God bless.

I have said recently if I had to give up one thing to economize, Television or the internet; I think I would choose to keep the internet. You can bring up anything with a Google or a Bing, and never have to be in doubt. A word, a recipe, the news, gossp or your fiends and family. They are all on the internet someplace at some time. You could not be lonley for interaction with the internet. good write  Lindsay, latearrival

Dear Lindsay.. you sure brought me smiles with this one and I agree wholeheartedly with you because if it weren't for the Internet you and I would never have met!   I hope you and Norma are well and continuing good health for you both.

Yes, the internet has brought me many wonderful friends and much enjoyment with the ability to connect with other poets and learn from them and to have so much information at my fingertips. Just what a nosy person, like me, needs.

Dear Late, how right you are, I would sooner give up the Tele' and keep my computer too, Thanks for the comment.

Roniece my lovely one, just where have you been. Yes, if wasn't for the internet we'd still be strangers, What a terrible thought.

Yann my good friend, it has certainly been through the Net that we have broadened our range of friends. I'm glad you agree.

Dear Hope, thanks so much for your response
and I liked your turn of phrase, with the click of the mouse we travel house to house

Sunshine, how would I get on without you, you are always so kind with your responses.
Thank you sincerely for for your invite.

Dear Ida, I could say the same thing about you. You're always there with a kind comment
which is always so very much appreciated.

Thanks to you all, take care. I love you all

Some of my best and dearest friends are those whose words I loved before I knew the person behind them... If the internet gave me nothing more, I'd be grateful for the way they've enriched my life. *S*

I'm sure glad you made that cap fit, my friend! *S*

Thank you dear friend for commenting on my poem. Yes the internet is a wonderful medium

in which to make new friends around the world. Life just wouldn't be the same without it. Love and a big hug.
